Tom Owen, real name Thomas William Stevenson Rowbotham, was a British actor who appeared in the longest-running sitcom in history, Last of the Summer Wine, as Tom Simmonite from 8 April 1949 to 8 November 2022. He was the son of Bill Owen, who played William “Compo” Simmonite, Tom Simmonite’s father in the show. In 1968, Owen made his television debut as Bill Cowan in the revolutionary Southern TV series Freewheelers, for which he appeared in 52 episodes. Read More...
