There will of course be a wide range of quality real ale to sample, from mellow session beers to strong IPAs and international craft beers. But it's not all about the hops - there will also be lots of cider and perry to taste, and even some English wine.
What to sup
Every year, CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) invites a carefully-selected range of breweries to come and serve you their finest beers. With more than 900 beers, ciders and perries on offer, you’re sure to discover something new to try as well as a few old favourites.
Already confirmed for this year are guest bars from South Wales' Tiny Rebel brewery, the St Austell Brewery in Cornwall and Buckinghamshire's XT Brewing Company.
However, the first stop is the glass stand, where you can pick up either a third, half or pint-sized glass.The majority of visitors sample beers in thirds – and unless you want to be rolled home, it’s best to join them.
When it comes to learning about what you’re drinking, the Souvenir Festival Guide is a must. It outlines the full tasting notes, colour and style for each beer and tells you a bit about each one. For those who want to expand their knowledge further, there are tutored tasting sessions available.
Food and entertainment
Once you’ve sampled a few beers, it’s a good idea to soak up the alcohol with some grub. Luckily, you’ll find a range of excellent street food stalls selling favourites like fish and chips, burgers and Thai noodles.
There will also be traditional British pub games – see if you can beat your friends or become the festival’s high scorer, as well as live music on stage and buskers playing around the venue. Don’t leave without stopping by the gift stalls, where you’ll find everything from books on the history of beer to silly novelty hats.
